HOMESPUN HISTORIES: An oral history program

The Al Larvick Homespun Histories arm of our grant program launched in 2020.  The fund conducts oral history interviews with its grant recipients and others about their home movie, amateur cinema and community recordings collections.

These interviews serve as context for the collections and to broaden awareness around the importance of memory sharing, micro-history and intergenerational storytelling and more.

Watch our first oral history video here. Homespun Histories: Vernon Baltzer Family Films.

In this oral history video, granddaughter, Stephanie Baltzer Kom discusses her grandfather's home movies. This film collection's conservation and digital capture support was provided through the Al Larvick North Dakota Grant in 2015. To learn more about the Al Larvick Fund, visit www.allarvickfund.org.

The Homespun Histories series is distributed through The Screening Room blog page of this site, as well as grant recipient web pages, the Internet Archive, Vimeo and our social media platforms.
